Families are busier than ever. In most families, both parents work, and kids are busy with many activities. Because of this, it’s easy to overlook daily habits that keep our teeth and gums healthy. But skipping the basics puts you and your family at risk for common dental problems, most of which can be avoided with good dental care. That’s why Dr. Rich Flores of Rich Flores, DDS, LLC is here to help.
Brushing twice a day and flossing at home can only do so much. Plaque eventually hardens into tartar, and once that happens, only a professional dental cleaning can get rid of it. With exams every six months, Dr. Flores can catch early signs of tooth decay and gum disease before they cause damage, among other issues.
Dental cleanings and exams every six months can help you avoid:
A typical visit with Dr. Flores is simple and thorough and involves the following:
Like the American Dental Association, Dr. Flores recommends a professional cleaning and checkup every six months. At these visits, Dr. Flores can catch early signs of problems. If you have gum disease or other concerns, you might need to come in more often.
Brush your teeth and floss after meals to remove food debris. When you do this, use fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush to protect your dental enamel. Drinking water throughout the day supports saliva production. And remember, sugar feeds bacteria, so keep sweets to a minimum.
If your gums bleed when you brush your teeth or if your teeth are sensitive, you need to schedule a visit with Dr. Flores right away. Early treatment can stop these problems before they get worse.
